Tips for the Best Candle Journey
Before Burning
-
Remember to trim your wick to 0.5cm every time before you light the candle.
-
Clean the wax surface with dry wipes if there is dust or pollutants.
During Burning
-
Always burn your candle on a flat and stable surface. Keep away from kids and pets.
-
The first burn is very important. Remember to burn the candle until a full wax pool appears to prevent the tunneling effect. This might take you around 2 hours.
-
The hot throw will gradually get stronger upon burning. If you want to enjoy the aroma during your sleep, we suggest you start burning the candle 30 mins before you go to bed.
-
Odor fatigue is a common and temporary inability to distinguish the aroma after a prolonged exposure to that airborne compound. You may take a rest and stay somewhere that is not fragranced for a while.
-
After burning a long while, the flame will possibly get bigger, higher and more unstable, sometimes it might even result in some black soot due to incomplete combustion. You can improve the situation by trimming the wick again to 0.5cm to reduce the surface area attached to the flame.
-
Never let your burning candle unattended.
After Burning
-
Our favourite way to put out a candle flame properly is to use a wick dipper. Simply bend the wick into the molten wax with your dipper, and quickly reposition it straight up. This method eliminates oxygen and immediately puts the flame out with little or no smoke.
-
Use a candle snuffer, a little bell shape to quickly extinguish the flame and minimize smoke.
-
Remember not to blow off the candle with your mouth. Blowing a candle will cause substantial smoke, giving an unpleasant burnt scent. Also the hot molten wax may splash on your face when you blow the candle, causing a mess and possibly an injury.
-
Always keep your candle in a cool, dry and shady area.
-
We highly recommend you to cover your candle with our dust-proof lid and put it back into the silk bag which protects the candle from fluctuation of humidity and temperature.
